Ac-Leu-Glu-Glu-Asp-pNA is a colorimetric substrate for Caspase 13. Caspase 13 or ERICE (evolutionarily related interleukin-1β converting enzyme) was originally thought to be human but was later found to be bovine in origin. It is an orthologue of human Caspase 4.
Activity is quantified by the release of p-nitroaniline which is measured by absorbance at 405 nm.
